What is Verbal Abuse and Why is it Harmful?Verbal abuse has been downgraded to something being trivial, but it’s not. Verbal abuse hurts and it does long term damage. Many of the men, women and children who have experienced long term verbal abuse suffer with long term relationships in marriages, parenting, work issues, friendships, and even their relationship with God is damaged. If you are experiencing any of the abuses listed below, you are being abused.

By attacking verbally, the abuser keeps his “hands clean” but effectively degrades and intimidates his victim until her sense of perception is unstable, and her self-esteem is lowered until she believes what he says is true.
Verbal Abuse causes great distress because the victim becomes paralyzed by the words that are spoken. The abusers goal is to control and keep control over the victim. This control allows them to remain in power over the victim.
